Repairing a damaged floor finished with OSMO Polyx Oil
It is possible to spot repair damaged areas of your timber floor, by re-applying a thin coat of Polyx Oil after the effected area has been sanded. To achieve the best results and the correct finish, the following points should be noted:
When needed, cordon off the damaged area using masking tape.
Evenly sand the masked off area to remove the damage. The final snadpaper used should be the same as that used originally when the floor was prepared.
The sanded area must be totally dust free before oiling.
Apply two thin coats of the Polyx Oil using a lint free cloth, allowing 10-12 hours (or overnight) between the two coats.
If there is a difference in appearance of the surface (e.g. too dull) after the second coat has dried, a further very thin coat of oil may be applied to improve the finish.
Due to sanding the damaged area, the wood's natural colour may appear visibly lighter in colour than the surrounding floor. This difference will balance out over time.
